The Missouri Tigers, ranked No. 1 at one point this season, were left out of the BCS bowl picture altogether and didn't forget it Tuesday, posting a 38-7 Cotton Bowl win over Arkansas, reports the Kansas City Star. Missouri's Tony Temple had records of 281 yards rushing and four touchdowns. "Games like this...you can't dream about it," he said.
Teammates carried Temple off the field after his fourth touchdown in Missouri's first New Year's Day bowl game since 1970. Heisman runner-up Darren McFadden, in what might have been his last college game, had 105 yards rushing in defeat. "The way we played today, we couldn't have beat anybody," said interim Arkansas coach Reggie Herring, subbing for the departed Houston Nutt. (More Missouri Tigers stories.)
