It's been 18 years since that infamous white Ford Bronco chase, but arguments over the guilt or innocence of OJ Simpson still run hot. Now a former LA deputy district attorney is accusing the defense team in his murder trial of fiddling with the glove, just hours before Simpson was unable to fit it over his hand, reports Reuters. "I think Johnnie [Cochran] tore the lining," said Christopher Darden. "There were some additional tears in the lining so that OJ's fingers couldn't go all the way up into the glove."
Darden said that a bailiff told him that someone on the defense team had handled the glove during the lunch break, leading Darden to think the glove was "manipulated." One of Simpson's former defenders said the accusation was "a total fabrication." "Having made the greatest legal blunder of the 20th century," said Alan Dershowitz, "he's trying to blame it on the dead man." Cochran died in 2005. (More OJ Simpson stories.)
