Hacker group AntiSec has broken into an FBI laptop, where it found 12 million unique identifying numbers for Apple devices, it says. The group published 1 million of these UDIDs to back up its claim, Slate reports. AntiSec, which says it refrained from leaking more sensitive information such as users' names and phone numbers, believes the FBI was collecting the data to track users.
The FBI agent reportedly targeted has previously called on hackers to team up with the agency. Based on hackers' account of the breach, The Next Web surmises that the UDIDs may have been linked to a cyber-crime investigating unit called the National Cyber-Forensics & Training Alliance. To find out whether your device was among those whose details were leaked, try TNW's tool. Weird note: The hackers said they would release more information about the breach if Gawker's Adrien Chen, who has written critically of them in the past, dressed up in a tutu. And here he is.
