Federal health officials are searching for passengers and crew who may have been exposed to a rare and potentially deadly form of drug resistant tuberculosis on an American Airlines flight from India. A 30-year-old Nepalese woman, diagnosed with the disease, flew from New Delhi to San Francisco via Chicago on December 13, reports USA Today.
"She was quite sick," said a health expert with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "She was at the extreme end of the severity of the disease." The woman, who lives in California, is now stable. Health officials have appealed to anyone on AA Flight 293 to contact their doctors to be screened for TB. (More Tuberculosis stories.)
