Looking to stay a step ahead of Dog the Bounty Hunter? Try going to Britain, where immigration officials have decided he isn't welcome. The reality TV star, real name Duane Chapman, has had his visa application rejected because of a murder conviction from the late '70s, reports the AP. Chapman, then 23, was in a car outside a Texas house where a fellow gang member shot a drug dealer dead. He was found guilty of murder but served just 18 months in prison. "In Texas in the '70s, if you were present, you were just as guilty," he says.
"I shouldn't have been the person I was back then," says Chapman, but the rejection "feels terrible. I'm dumbfounded. I can't believe it, after all these years, especially when we've been on television for the past nine years." Chapman, whose reality show was canceled this year after eight seasons, had been invited to take part in Britain's Celebrity Big Brother. His wife calls the rejection "insulting" in light of Chapman's charity work. "For 30 years he's lived with the X on his back," she says. "Society just doesn't let it go." (More Duane Chapman stories.)
