Poor soul-wounded Rob Pattinson seemed pretty chipper last night as he bravely faced his public for an almost heart-to-heart on The Daily Show. Jon Stewart broke out some Ben & Jerry's ice cream (Karamel Sutra for a chuckling Rob), pointing out that the treat had carried him through some "rough times." We're just a "couple of gals" chatting, Jon said. "Now, tell me everything," he added, referring to Rob's painful bust-up with Kristen Stewart. But Pattinson wasn't taking the bait. First, he complained that the ice cream was going to make him "split my Spanx." Then he quipped: "My biggest problem in my life is ... I'm cheap, and I didn't hire a publicist. I'm going to hire a publicist."
Stewart's advice on the whole affair? "Boy, you are better off," he said, drawing applause. "Kick her to the curb. Whatevah!" Still, the chivalrous Rob kept mum on his cheating Twilight co-star. Stewart finally gave up, remarking: "Here is my wish for you: That you get to handle your business in private, and I wish you all the best." After the Daily Show taping, a relaxed Pattinson turned up at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan for the premiere of his new film, Cosmopolis, reports People. As he signed autographs, he smiled, saying: "Thank you, guys, for being here." (More Robert Pattinson stories.)
