Entertainment / Adam Yauch Beastie Boy's Will: Don't Put My Music in Ads Adam Yauch doesn't want to sell out in death By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Aug 10, 2012 2:10 PM CDT Copied In this 2006 file photo, Beastie Boys members Adam Yauch "MCA," right, Adam Horovitz "Adrock," center, and Mike Diamond "Mike D," reflected in a mirror, pose during an interview in Toronto. (AP Photo/The Canadian Press, Aaron Harris) Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, who died in May, wanted to make sure his music was never used to shill corporate products after his death—so he wrote just such a directive into his will. Yauch, also known as MCA, dictated that no music or art he created can be used in advertising, and neither can his image. The rapper's will was filed this week, and puts his entire $6.4 million fortune in a trust for his wife and their teen daughter, DNAinfo reports. Yauch's wife can sell and manage his music and art, but it's not clear whether his bandmates will be able to sell music they wrote together for use in ads. Yauch co-wrote some of the group's most well-known songs, including "Fight for Your Right (to Party)." Report an error
