Temple Shooter's Girlfriend Praises 'Heroes' at Scene

The ex-girlfriend of the man who opened fire on a Sikh temple in Wisconsin is drawing scrutiny of her own from police, but her first public statement is all about offering solace to the victims. "The reaction of the Sikh community around the world has been admirable," Misty Cook told the LA Times in an email. "Their advocation for education and understanding is something we should all try to emulate."

Cook also heaped praise on those who confronted shooter Wade Michael Page, including officer Brian Murphy and temple leader Satwant Singh Kaleka. "I hope the majority of focus will be on celebrating the lives of the heroes in this situation," wrote Cook, who, like Page, has been linked to the white-supremacy movement. (The Daily has details on that.) "I find the good work that (Kaleka) did for his people and his heroic last act are far more newsworthy than anything I could say."
