If you had trouble using Amazon, eBay, or Priceline four years ago, you'll be glad to know that the guy responsible has finally been nabbed. Russian hacker Dmitry Olegovich Zubakha has been arrested in Cyprus for his role in a series of crippling denial-of-service attacks on the sites, reports Ars Technica. The 25-year-old hacker went on forums to boast about the attacks, and posted lists of stolen credit card numbers, say authorities.
"The old adage is true: The arm of the law is long," the head of the Justice Department's Cybercrime division tells the Seattle Times. "This defendant could not hide in cyberspace, and I congratulate the international law enforcement agencies that tracked him down and made this arrest." Zubakha's accomplice, another Russian, called Priceline to offer his expertise as a computer consultant to stop the attacks. He is still at large. (More DDoS stories.)
