In the wake of the damning Freeh report and the outrage that has followed, Joe Paterno's family is launching its own probe into the Jerry Sandusky sex scandal. Paterno family members "are dismayed by, and vehemently disagree with" the former FBI director's report, they say in a statement. They have asked their own attorneys and experts to review the report, which concluded Paterno did not protect boys abused by Sandusky, and that he and Penn State engaged in a cover-up.
"We have also asked them to go beyond the report and identify additional information that should be analyzed," the family said. They have asked Freeh to save all his notes and records, in case they need to be investigated further, and they insist his report is not "the last word on this matter." Paterno's estate is in danger of being sued for damages by Sandusky victims, experts tell Reuters. Meanwhile, CNN has a look at one female Penn State administrator who tried to stand up to the JoePa machine, and decidedly lost. (More Jerry Sandusky stories.)
