A 7,000-strong collection of video games—which includes every game ever made for the Sega, Nintendo, and NEC consoles, all factory sealed—sold on eBay for $1.2 million, reports the LA Times. "Andre," a 32-year-old based in Paris, has been selling video game collections online for years, but this is the first time he tried anything so ambitious. "What I put on eBay is just a part of my collection," said Andre. "I still do have thousands of other games that I didn’t put there."
The collection included every game for obscure gaming systems, such as Nintendo Virtual Boy and the Sega Dreamcast. Among his other crowning gems: One of what Andre believes are only eight copies of Kunio-Kun Dodgeball Gold ever made, and one of two copies left in the world of one Genesis game, Go-Net. No wonder he was able to find a Canadian buyer willing to fork over €999,999.99, or $1,230,699.99, for the collection, plus $1,230.70 for shipping. "Now that the mission is complete, maybe it’s time to move on." (More video games stories.)
