Iran successfully tested a long-range ballistic missile today that is capable of hitting Israel and regional US bases, according to state media. Various ballistic missiles were also tested, including the Shahab-3, traveling as far as 800 miles and successfully hitting their targets. A general quoted in one article hinted that the range of some of the surface-to-surface missiles was even longer.

The AP notes that Israel is about 600 miles from Iran, and a US Navy fleet is based in Bahrain, just 120 miles from Iran. Previous missile tests have included a Shahab-3 variant with a 1,200-mile range. The general says more missiles will be tested during the war games, including manned and unmanned bombers, but Iran continues to insist it has no plans to build a nuclear warhead.
