Louis CK did very, very well when he decided to sell his self-produced comedy album directly to fans, so now he's using that same model to sell tickets to his upcoming tour. Rather than going through a ticketing service—notorious for adding on ridiculous charges—the comedian is selling the tickets only on his website, for $45 apiece, which he says is about half of what most people paid to see him last year. And the implied "eff you" is not just to ticketing services but to re-sellers as well: Anyone who attempts to sell a ticket for more than the original price will find that ticket canceled and refunded.

"Doing things this way means I'm making less than I would have made if I did a standard tour," CK writes in an email reprinted by Pop Culture Brain. "But I like doing more shows and about a year ago I reached a place where I realized I am making enough money doing comedy so the next thing that interested me is bringing your price down. Either way, I still make a whole lot more than my grandfather who taught math and raised chickens in Michigan." Vulture takes a look at the tour schedule and notes that "the dates are spaced so the most publicly filthy single dad of all time can properly care for his daughters half of each week," writes Zach Dionne. "Helluva guy, all around." (More Louis CK stories.)
