Palin Favorite Scores Upset in Nebraska

Nebraskans went to the polls today, and while Mitt Romney's victory was a foregone conclusion—CNN called it early—the real race to watch was the Republican Senate primary, won by a Sarah Palin favorite. Little-known state Sen. Deb Fisher, who garnered a flurry of Tea Party endorsements after Palin backed her, edged out establishment favorite, Attorney General Jon Bruning, 41% to 36%. State Treasurer Don Stenberg, who was supposed to be the one giving Bruning a fight, captured nearly 19% of the votes.

Fisher will now face Bob Kerrey, who easily won the Democratic primary tonight in his bid to replace retiring Democrat Ben Nelson. As for Romney, he doesn't pick up any delegates for his Nebraska win because those get allotted at the state convention in July. (More Nebraska stories.)
