Even the US Army is taking exception to Ted Nugent's violent political rhetoric. Citing his recent criticism of President Obama, the Army has canceled his June 23 gig at Fort Knox, Kentucky. “After learning of opening act Ted Nugent’s recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation," according to a post on the Army's Facebook page. Ticket holders now get to see REO Speedwagon and Styx, although cancelations are being accepted.
A Fort Knox spokesman said that allowing Nugent to perform "would be a conflict of interest since the military has the obligation to be apolitical." But The Hollywood Reporter reminds us that Fort Knox is promoting an upcoming show by comedian Jay Phillips, who supports Obama on Twitter, and has let Ludracris play despite his pro-Obama song "Politics as Usual" (and his dismissal of Hillary Clinton in 2008 as a "bitch" who is "irrelevant"). Fort Knox did not return calls or emails about the apparent discrepancy. Hat tip to MSNBC for the story. (More US Army stories.)
