Bruckheimer Inks Vid Game Deal With MTV

When MTV heard that Jerry Bruckheimer wanted to make video games, the company jumped to sign him. Sure, Bruckheimer’s never made a video game before, but he doesn’t think it’ll be too different from making Pirates of the Caribbean or "CSI." “Get creative talent together and do something interesting,” he says. “It’s no different than what we did with movies.”

MTV isn’t worried about Bruckheimer’s gaming bona fides either. “I didn’t care,” said one MTV exec. “What I wanted was his ability to tell a story.” MTV is hardly a gaming juggernaut itself, but it's investing $500 million to become one. Bruckheimer will produce original ideas, which the network can later mine for movie or TV ideas. (More MTV stories.)
