Women have the Brazilian, and now men have the Boyzilian: That's what one New York spa calls its bikini wax for men, a service that's growing in popularity. And not just with a certain subset of men, either: "It’s the gay community, it’s the straight community, it’s very conservative guys, it’s very liberal guys. All different age groups are coming in. It’s much, much bigger than we ever thought," says one president of a spa chain that offers the "Ultimate He-Wax." Other salon owners tell the New York Times that they agree.
Why? One music producer explains that it's all about image, but adds that he also gets waxed because he prefers his girlfriends to do the same, so he should "return the favor." Others say it's about keeping yourself clean; still others are simply forced by their partners. And then there's the fact that removing the hair "accentuates" the rest of the genital area, notes a salon director.
