Green Day will make the induction speech this weekend when Guns N' Roses enters the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, notes Rolling Stone, but Axl Rose has just ensured that the speech might be a little ... tricky. GNR's co-founder and lead singer says he won't attend. "I respectfully decline my induction," he writes in a long letter of explanation to the Los Angeles Times, and "I strongly request that I not be included in absentia."
Rose, who still fronts the group with a different lineup, has stormy relations with his ex-bandmates (especially Slash), and he made clear that a reunion is not in the works for old times' sake. "Maybe we can get the 'no show, grandstanding, publicity stunt, disrespectful, he doesn't care about the fans' crap out of the way as quickly as we can and let's move on," writes Rose. (Despite all that, he also thanks the Hall for the nomination and wishes it a "great show.")
