The Consumerist website has wrapped up its own version of spring brackets, and voters have picked Electronic Arts as the worst company in America. The maker of video games took the honors by a wide margin over Bank of America, with AT&T and Wal-Mart also cracking the Final Four. So why EA? Among other things, it swallows up any small competitors lucky enough to emerge on the scene, and it likes to "nickel and dime" loyal customers with extra add-ons to games that aren't worth the money, complains the website.
"For years, while movies and music became more affordable and publishers piled on bonus content—or multiple modes of delivery—as added value to entice customers to buy, video games have continued to be priced like premium goods," it writes. In short, EA doesn't seem to "care a lick about the people who fork over their cash." (More Electronic Arts stories.)
