Has Two and a Half Men creator Lee Aronsohn been taking bad-boy lessons from Charlie Sheen? He went on a testosterone-fueled tirade about female comics and TV comedies, saying he was sick of all the estrogen-laden routines on the air, referring particularly to shows like Whitney and 2 Broke Girls. “We are approaching peak vagina on television, the point of labia saturation,” Aronsohn sniped to the Hollywood Reporter at the Toronto Screenwriting Conference. “Enough, ladies. I get it. You have periods.” He also blamed women for men's problems. “We’re centering the show on two very damaged men," he said, referring to Two and a Half Men. "What makes men damaged? Sorry, it’s women. I never got my heart broken by a man.”
The Twitterverse exploded, with comic Jen Kirkman declaring a 'Twitter fatwa' on Aronsohn, and joking: "I'm scared. Just looked out my window and vaginas are storming the streets with sitcom ideas!" Aronsohn hemmed and hawed, pointing out that he has made a career out of joking about male body parts. "Women, please look up 'irony,'" he pleaded. But he finally admitted yesterday: "Yes, yes—it was a stupid joke. I'm sorry." We "just wish he was a little more sincere," says Perez Hilton. "Don't you?" (More Two and a Half Men stories.)
