The US, in a sign of frustration with Pakistan, is offering a $10 million reward for the alleged mastermind of the terror attacks that killed 164 people in Mumbai in 2008. Hafiz Saeed founded the militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba in the '80s. He was arrested in connection with the Mumbai attacks but was released in 2009, and moves around Pakistan freely, sometimes appearing at anti-India rallies and even on talk shows.
The bounty—exceeded only by the $25 million the US is offering for the capture of al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahri—was posted on the government's Rewards for Justice website following a top State Department official's visit to India, AP reports. The US is also offering a $2 million bounty for Saeed's second-in-command, Hafiz Abdul Rahman Makki. (More Hafiz Muhammad Saeed stories.)
