Warning: You may not want to read (or watch) this while eating. Alicia Silverstone has a somewhat unconventional method for feeding her 11-month-old son, Bear Blu: She chews the food for him, then lets him take it directly out of her mouth. She posted a picture and video of the practice on her website over the weekend, writing, "I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup … from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite ... and mine. He literally crawls across the room to attack my mouth if I’m eating."
But is the practice safe? One doctor tells Fox News it may not be, since viruses and bacteria can be passed from mom to baby, and plus, "there’s a certain ick factor here that needs to be considered." The deputy editor of parenting site Babble.com notes that the video looks "like Alicia is making out with her son," and a family therapist questions whether the practice is psychologically appropriate. A nutrition specialist sums it up: "I think a food processor and a spoon are a better bet!" (More Alicia Silverstone stories.)
