Teams of 42s Honor Jackie

Players and coaches across the majors honored Jackie Robinson by donning number 42 on the 60th anniversary of the day Robinson broke the color barrier with his debut as a Brooklyn Dodger. The league officially honored Robinson at Dodger Stadium—a serendipitous choice, as five other potential venues were rained out by the monsoon that battered the Northeast.

Hours before the ceremony, commissioner Bud Selig honored Rachel Robinson, the legend's wife and a celebrated philanthropist, with the Commissioner's Historic Achievement Award.  Braves slugger Andruw Jones, who added a run to Atlanta's 8-4 victory over the Marlins, said, "I really don't know much about Jackie Robinson, but I know what he did for me to be here.
