The e-book market has spiked from 0.6% in 2008 to 6.4% in 2010, or $878 million in sales, yet you still won't be able to find certain hugely popular books in the new format. The Street rounded up a list of eight classics that can be found only on dead trees.

  • The Harry Potter series, by JK Rowling: The wizard saga that's sold 450 million copies was supposed to be on your Kindle last year but was hit with unexpected delays. It might show up sometime this year.
  • To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee: The Pulitzer-prize winning story that nearly every American schoolchild has read will probably not be heading to your iPad soon. Lee, 85, apparently isn't interested.
  • The Catcher in the Rye, by JD Salinger: Reclusive and guarded Salinger rejected every form of adaption of his novel, including a movie deal with Spielberg. Don't hold your breath for an e-book.
  • One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez: The 1967 story of a Colombian family is actually available in e-book form, but only in Spanish.
