Americans everywhere can now buy a Taco Bell taco whose shell is made out of Doritos, notes the AP, and a $75 million advertising campaign means the pitch will be hard to avoid. Judging by early reaction, this is either everything that's right or wrong with the nation:

  • Chris Preovolos, CT News: It is a "neon orange monstrosity," he writes. "Congratulations Taco Bell, you have innovated a mediocre fast food into a saltier, weirder mediocre fast food."

  • Chris Quinn, MySanAntonio: It's the "ultimate stoner food," writes Quinn. "It is all there in one piece of food—Doritos, some meat and cheese. And some say American innovation is dead."
  • Gothamist: Rounds up mostly raving tweets, including an over-the-top one calling it "the most amazing thing ever conceived or produced by a fast food restaurant."
