In what some Democrats are calling another Romney wealth gaffe, Ann Romney told a Fox interviewer that she doesn't consider herself wealthy. "We can be poor in spirit, and I don’t even consider myself wealthy, which is an interesting thing,” she said after being asked whether the Romneys are "oblivious, given your wealth, to the everyday concerns of average folks," ABC reports. “It can be here today and gone tomorrow," said Romney, whose husband is worth some $200 million.
A Romney campaign spokeswoman called the Democratic focus on Ann Romney's comment a "new low," noting that it was said in the context of a discussion of how Romney deals with her multiple sclerosis. "How I measure riches is by the friends I have, and the loved ones I have, and the people that I care about in life," Romney said in the interview. "And that's where my values are, and that's where my riches are." (More Ann Romney stories.)
