Yet more bad publicity for the cruise industry: Coast Guard crews are searching a 900-square-mile area of sea for a woman who vanished from a cruise ship somewhere between Grand Bahama and the coast of Florida, ABC reports. The Canadian woman's boyfriend says he last saw her after midnight, and he raised the alarm in the morning when he woke up and found she wasn't in their cabin.
The ship's crew, along with Coast Guard personnel who were on board for an annual inspection, conducted two full searches of the ship, but found no trace of the woman. "We're still hoping for the best—that somehow she snuck off the vessel, or she is hiding somewhere," said the president of Celebration Cruise Lines. In other bad cruise news, a disabled liner has been towed to port in the Seychelles after losing power in pirate-infested waters. (More missing person stories.)
