Baseball commissioner Bud Selig called the Mitchell Report a “call to action” today, and said he'd execute every recommendation the former senator made in his bombshell appraisal of steroid use. As to punishment for current players named in the report, Selig said Mitchell was right to defer to him—and his decisions would be made on a case-by-case basis, MLB.com reports.

Implementing some of the report’s advice will entail cooperation from the Players Association, Selig cautioned, such as improvement of a drug-prevention and treatment program. Disciplinary action is complicated because the named players were linked to steroids when punishments were different than they are currently. Still, the commish made a commitment today to “the name of integrity.” (More Bud Selig stories.)
