Josie Anello's obituary ran in the Tampa Tribune on Feb. 14—but it wasn't exactly teeming with love. The wording of the 93-year-old woman's obit has brought her Internet fame after death, and turned the spotlight on her not-exactly-chummy kids. Its third line read: "She is survived by her Son, 'AJ', who loved and cared for her; Daughter 'Ninfa', who betrayed her trust, and Son 'Peter', who broke her heart." One guess who wrote it? Yep, AJ, aka Angelo. The Tampa Bay Times reports that Ninfa placed a scrubbed obit the next day ... and the paper digs into the siblings' rift.
At the heart of it? Cold, hard cash. Angelo, 63, and Ninfa, 65, both point a finger at the other. Angelo says his sis used Mom's Social Security checks to vacation with her husband (destinations: Branson, Mo., and Alaska). Ninfa says her brother maxed out their mother's credit cards and ate up all her savings. Both, shockingly, insist it isn't so. But Angelo says his wording wasn't an act of revenge, but "reflected what [Josie] had said right up to the end." As for Peter, he's been estranged from the family for more than 25 years.
