PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel knows a thing or two about sending money, and last month he sent $1.7 million worth of it to "Endorse Liberty," a super PAC backing Ron Paul, according to documents released today. Thiel is a long avowed Paul fan, and is so far the PAC's most generous contributor—the latest splurge brings his total donations up to $2.6 million, Politico reports. Let's hope he sent it as a gift to avoid the fees.
All told, Endorse Liberty brought in $2.4 million last month, and $1 million in December, with other big donors including Florida broadcasting company owner Gunter Marksteiner, and Smiley Media founder Stephen Oskoui, a co-founder of the PAC. Still, the figures look like chump change next to the kind of donations that other candidates' PACS are getting. (More Peter Thiel stories.)
