Snowmobilers on a forest road in Sweden thought they had come across a car wreck—until they dug down to a window and saw an emaciated man starving inside, BBC reports. Now he's in a hospital, and reports say he was snowbound in the car without food for two months in temperatures dipping to -22 Fahrenheit. "We would not make something like this up," a police officer said.
Doctors say the man is alright considering everything, MSNBC reports. They say people can survive without food for about a month, but this man probably ate snow and slipped into a dormant-like state to survive. "A bit like a bear that hibernates," a doctor said. "Humans can do that. ... Due to the low temperature, not much energy was used up." How the man ended up there is anyone's guess. (More Sweden stories.)
