Bobby Brown Walks Out on Houston's Funeral

Bobby Brown walked out on ex-wife Whitney Houston's funeral today in Newark, New Jersey, looking upset. He left with his entourage of nine people when it was denied seating in the front row and only Brown was allowed to stay, the New Jersey Star-Ledger reports. The Rev. Al Sharpton tweeted after confronting him in the parking lot: "I spoke with Bobby Brown trying to calm him down and not distract from the services. Today is about Whitney!"

Brown tells his side of the story in a statement, saying he and his children were told by security to "move on three separate occasions," Us Weekly reports. "I fail to understand why security treated my family this way. ... Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene." Brown and Houston had a 14-year drug-fueled marriage that ended badly, with Houston receiving custody of Bobbi Kristina. (More Whitney Houston stories.)
