French actor Gerard Depardieu has been tapped to play Dominique Strauss-Kahn in an upcoming film about the sex scandal that cost the former head of the IMF his job and a shot at the French presidency. Isabelle Adjani will play his wife, Anne Sinclair, US film director Abel Ferrara revealed to Le Monde newspaper. Ferrara said the film is about the "rich and powerful," and will be shot in "all the places of power"—Washington, Paris, and New York, where a hotel maid accused Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her last year.
Ferrara, the director of the dark film Bad Lieutenant, said he met Depardieu, 63, at the Deauville film festival last year and decided the actor was "everything" he could wish for, reports the BBC. Charges against Strauss-Kahn in the New York case were eventually dropped, but other accusations of sex assault and impropriety surfaced against him. A French writer accused him of an assault in 2003, but it was too late to prosecute a crime. She's still considering a lawsuit. (More Gerard Depardieu stories.)
