Michael Jackson fans in France are suing the late pop singer's doctor over emotional distress, AFP reports. "It's similar to losing a childhood friend in a traffic accident," says lawyer Emmanuel Ludot, who is representing about 100 grieving fans against doctor Conrad Murray. "Because this death affects you, you have the possibility to file a suit and seek compensation."

Each fan filing the suit for "emotional damage" could legally win up to $13,000 from Murray, who was found guilty in November of involuntary manslaughter in Jackson's death—but Ludot's clients are seeking only a symbolic euro in damages. The case will be be heard on April 11 in the city of Orleans. (More Conrad Murray stories.)
