A sharp-eyed Nevada rancher surveying his cattle by plane spotted two 20-somethings suspected in a crime spree that left an elderly couple dead and a woman seriously injured, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. Logan McFarland, 24, and Angela Atwood, 25, were arrested without incident when police got to them. They're wanted for questioning in two crimes: The deaths of a Utah couple whose home was burglarized on New Year's Eve and an attempted carjacking across the border in Nevada that left a woman with a gunshot wound to the head.
"We didn't have any cellphone coverage, so we followed them for a ways, just circling them," the pilot tells AP. "We flew low, right down next to them." The pair was arrested on foot, apparently because a stolen getaway car broke down. Atwood's parents think their daughter was acting against her will and rejoiced at her arrest. "Oh, thank you, God," Denise Atwood told the Tribune. (More Utah stories.)
