Politics / Mitt Romney 2012 Romney's New Gingrich Dig: Lucy at Chocolate Factory But he seems to be looking past his GOP rivals these days By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted Dec 27, 2011 4:39 PM CST Copied Mitt Romney shakes hands during a campaign stop in Portsmouth, N.H., Tuesday. (AP Photo/Charles Krupa) Mitt Romney couldn't resist a dig at Newt Gingrich's failure to get on the Virginia ballot, with this line getting most of the attention today: "I think he compared that to ... what was it, Pearl Harbor?" said Romney when prompted by a reporter. "I think it's more like Lucille Ball at the chocolate factory. You've got to get it organized." Despite that shot, however, both AP and Politico say an increasingly confident Romney seems to be returning to the strategy of ignoring his GOP rivals and instead focusing his attacks on President Obama. Gingrich, for his part, continued to hit Romney as a "Massachusetts moderate" and today challenged him to a 90-minute, one-on-one debate, notes the Wall Street Journal.
