The combination of a bumpy road, a loaded gun, and an over-excited bulldog has left a Florida hunter in critical condition. Billy Brown, 78, and a friend were on their way to a deer hunting post when the dog apparently bumped Brown's loaded Browning .208, shooting him in the thigh, ABC reports.
Brown would not have survived if his hunting buddy of 25 years hadn't been there to perform first aid, say officials. "As you're traveling to or from your hunting zone it's always recommended that your firearm is unloaded," a Florida wildlife official warns. "Then we don't have tragic events like this." Earlier this month, a hunter in Utah ended up in hospital after being shot in the butt by his bird dog. (More dog shoots man stories.)
