He's out: Herman Cain told supporters today that he is dropping out of the race for president, reports MSNBC. Though he used the word "suspending," Cain made clear he is done as a candidate. He again forcefully denied the "false allegations" of sexual impropriety against him but said they had taken too great a toll on him and his family and distracted from his message. He also announced his "Plan B," a website called TheCainSolutions.com.

"As of today, with a lot of prayer and soul searching, I am suspending my presidential campaign," Cain said. "I am suspending my presidential campaign because of the continued distraction, the continued hurt caused on me and my family. Not because we are not fighters." Earlier he said: "I am at peace with my God. I am at peace with my wife. And she is at peace with me." (More Herman Cain 2012 stories.)
