Looks like the News of the World phone hacking scandal won't cost James Murdoch his spot as chairman of BSkyB. Murdoch sailed through a shareholder vote today, with 81.24% supporting him and 18.76% opposing, the AP reports. "He runs an excellent board," Deputy chairman Nicholas Ferguson told shareholders before the vote. "Discussions are open and frank, his chairing is very good. He has put in place strong governance procedures. He has a strong strategic view."

Some had called for Murdoch to step down in the wake of the phone hacking scandal, since he also chairs News International, the group that owned News of the World. An earlier effort to oust him from News Corp's board also failed. (More James Murdoch stories.)
