Chelsea Clinton will show up for work this morning at the NBC News offices. She’s been hired as a full-time special correspondent, and the network will make the official announcement today, the New York Times reports. Clinton, who was touched by people making personal contributions during her mother’s presidential campaign, will work on stories about people volunteering in their communities for NBC Nightly News' "Making a Difference" series.
The president of NBC News says “it’s not about Chelsea Clinton saying, ‘Here I am; I want to be a TV star,’" but about her wanting to share these stories. A source close to Clinton says that Clinton plans to donate her earnings to the Clinton Foundation and the George Washington University Hospital in her grandmother's memory. Said Clinton in a statement, "I hope telling stories through 'Making a Difference'—as in my academic work and nonprofit work—will help me to live my grandmother’s adage of 'Life is not about what happens to you, but about what you do with what happens to you.'"
