Occupy Supporter Makes 'I'm Getting Arrested' App

Sometimes you just don’t have time to type out a text message—like, say, when the cops are about to zip-tie your wrists together. That’s why Brooklyn software developer Jason Van Anden created “I’m Getting Arrested,” a free Android app designed to let Occupy protesters quickly alert friends and loved ones when they’re about to get pinched, the New York Daily News reports.

Just type in a message ahead of time—say, for example, “I’m getting arrested”—and you can send it with the push of a button. So far 9,000 people have downloaded the app, and an iPhone version is in the works. A 43-year-old dad, Van Anden says he’s too busy to protest himself, but that the “opportunity for me to contribute something was awesome.” (Click to read about a couple who hopes to make money off of Occupy.)
