Is Rick Perry the new birther candidate? The Texas governor told Parade he's incapable of reaching a definitive conclusion as to whether Barack Obama's publicly released birth certificate is "real," though he ultimately pirouettes away from the controversial issue. When asked in yesterday in Parade if he thought the president was born in the US, he carefully offered: "I have no reason to think otherwise."

Perry was told by the interviewer that wasn't a definitive answer ("Well, I don’t have a definitive answer," he responds), and was reminded that he has seen the president's birth certificate. "Have I?" Perry asked. He then mentioned that he has discussed Obama's birth certificate with Donald Trump, who "doesn't think it's real." When pressed further, Perry responded: "It doesn't matter. He's the president. It's a distractive issue." (More Barack Obama stories.)
