In the latest twist in a Miss Universe pageant scandal, police investigating claims that someone put pepper spray on the clothing and cosmetics of the new Miss Puerto Rico found no trace of the chemicals. The 24-year-old beauty said she broke out in hives and had to ice down her face after the sabotage attempt. Now she's under investigation herself, reports Reuters.

"I guess she has a lot of explaining to do," said a Puerto Rico police spokesman. The beauty contestant made international headlines when she won the Miss Puerto Rico pageant despite the alleged sabotage, making her eligible to represent the island at the Miss Universe contest. The woman did not give any statements to police; the complaint was filed by pageant officials. (More Miss Universe pageant stories.)
