Your next flight could feel like being stuck inside a commercial. Various US airlines, desperate for revenue, are beginning to cram advertising into every corner of their planes, including overhead bins, seat backs, napkins, flight attendants' aprons, and even through crew announcements and in-flight safety videos, reports USA Today. Delta, for instance, is running a Lincoln commercial after its video.
Want to slap your logo on the exterior of every Spirit Airlines jet for an entire year? Pony up $14 million. Or $196,000 will buy you three months' worth of space on overhead bins, and $18,500 for promotion on air-sickness bags. While airlines lap up extra revenue from the ads, some fliers are incensed over what they see as an intrusive annoyance. "If they want to bombard me with advertising, then give me a discount," says one customer. (More advertisements stories.)
