Michael Jackson was dead when he arrived at the UCLA Medical Center, but Dr. Conrad Murray insisted that physicians try to revive him, two emergency doctors testified yesterday. An aortic balloon pump was placed in Jackson's heart, a move that doctors knew was futile but was done "to prepare Dr. Murray mentally to accept the fact that Mr. Jackson could not be rescued," a cardiologist testified. "It was not a case of too little, too late, but a case of too late."
Murray "appeared devastated" when informed that Jackson could not be revived, the attending physician told the court. Murray failed to inform doctors that Jackson had been taking the anesthetic propofol, she said, but on cross-examination, she explained that that information would not have saved Jackson's life, the Los Angeles Times reports. "Michael Jackson had died long before he became my patient," she said. "It is unlikely with that information I could have done something that would have changed the outcome."
