Prosecutors Want Life Sentence for Amanda Knox

Amanda Knox's murder appeal could result in one of two extremes: freedom or a longer sentence of life in prison. Prosecutors today wrapped up their closing arguments by asking the judge to extend Knox's sentence from 26 years to a life term, reports ABC News. For good measure, they called for six months of daytime detention for the 24-year-old. She sat motionless during the request.

"She was actually doing okay," said her father, Curt Knox, afterward. "It's hard to hear that someone is asking that you spend your life in prison." Her lawyers will present their closing arguments next week, and the verdict is expected early next month, notes AP. Prosecutors also asked that the sentence of Raffaele Sollecito, Knox's boyfriend at the time of Meredith's Kercher's slaying, be extended to a life term. (More Amanda Knox stories.)
