Elizabeth Warren Leads Scott Brown in Poll

A new poll confirms it: The Massachusetts Senate race is shaping up to be a doozy. The survey from Public Policy Polling has Elizabeth Warren ahead of Scott Brown 46-44. While the margin is slim, it marks a big jump for Warren since she announced her Democratic candidacy this month. She trailed the GOP incumbent by 15 points in June. What's more, her favorability rating is rising—meaning she's making a good first impression on voters—while Brown's approval numbers are dropping.

"This poll was taken over the weekend right after a week of positive press surrounding Warren's candidacy announcement," notes PPP, adding that her momentum could fade. "But that doesn't change Brown's falling approval numbers—this looks like it will be a highly competitive race."
