A British dad who apparently stabbed to death a would-be thief during an attempted home invasion has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to police. Vincent Cooke, 39, was home alone when two men broke in, planning to steal, police believe. When Cooke was threatened, he stabbed one of the men, who died a short time later, reports the Telegraph. Cooke's wife and 12-year-old son, who arrived home during the confrontation, were uninjured. "Clearly this is a serious incident in which a man has lost his life," said a police spokesman. " At this time we believe the dead man was one of two men who were attempting to carry out a burglary at the house."
Neighbors yesterday gathered outside the suburban Bramhalll home, and one woman left flowers for the dead man with a note reading: "To my baby boy who will always be my baby boy. Mum." One neighbor said: "If a bloke is defending his home, that’s all right. I would have killed him stone dead. It’s just defending his home like a soldier defends his country." (More crime stories.)
