Tim Pawlenty didn’t wait long to throw his weight behind a candidate in the GOP primary race. The former Minnesota governor told Fox News today that he is endorsing Mitt Romney, adding, “I think he’s going to be a transformational and great president for this country.” And we know what you’re thinking, but Pawlenty insists he’s not angling for a VP nomination.

“I’m not even going to consider that,” Pawlenty said. “That won’t be part of the future for me.” Instead, Pawlenty will become a national co-chairman for Romney’s campaign. Pawlenty says he settled on Romney because he’s “unmatched in his skills and experience and talent when it comes to turning around this economy and creating jobs.” Asked about his much-ballyhooed “ObamneyCare” jab, Pawlenty replied that he is now convinced that Mitt is “100% dedicated … to repealing ObamaCare.” (More Tim Pawlenty stories.)
