Ricky Gervais Plots 'Alternative' Golden Globe Hosting

Ricky Gervais won't shut up. Bashed after hosting the last Golden Globe Awards show for his inappropriate comments (which should have come as no surprise to anyone), the irreverent comedian is considering being an underground podcast host next time around. That's the gist of his latest blogs as Golden Globes producers mull over who will host the show in January. "What do you think of this?" Gervais muses in his blog. "A live three-hour podcast during The Golden Globes. Me and a few chums (like ... Chris Rock, Jon Stewart, Larry David popping in and out) doing our own alternative commentary. People at home can have the telly on with the sound down listening to us online say things that no broadcaster could get away with. No one could do an effing thing."

Gervais claims he already has offers from comedians who want to participate, a possibility that's likely giving Globes producers the shakes. Gervais boasts that his brainstorm is "about new horizons, new technologies, and artistic freedom." Anyway, he adds,"I'm looking into it. Might not happen. I might not even be available. Who knows, I might be at the Golden Globes. (awkward silence.)" Maybe it's all just a ruse to get his old gig back. He still doesn't understand what the ruckus was about last time, and reminds the squeamish that he did not, after all, "dress up like Hitler"—something he claims he seriously considered doing to really shake things up.
